Newton Sheriff’s Report 6.4.18

Published 1:59 pm Tuesday, June 5, 2018

We don’t need any more weeks like we just had. Let’s see what it was all about.

We received a report of a naked man running around his car up toward Toledo Bend. The guy was all doped up and he had locked his keys in his car. By the time we got there he had put on one shoe. He went to jail.

Went and assisted Jasper County Sheriff’s Office who chased a drug dealer into Newton County. He went down a dirt road and bailed out of his pickup. We called Vernon Parish tracking dogs but still didn’t locate him.

We located a man who had been missing for three days. He was deceased in his travel trailer. Same time we located him, we received a 911 call where a child found a deceased 31 year old female in the Cow Creek area off Hwy 1416.

We put together a multi-agency operation in the Deweyville area. We were looking for drugs and what else we could find. We arrested 6 people on several charges including drugs, DWI, felony warrants, etc.

We stopped one guy with a small amount of drugs. We asked him if he had any more drugs and he said yes, at home. He took us there and he gave us the rest of his drugs. Mighty nice of him.

Gotta go. Criminal trial this morning. Thought for the week: If nothing was learned, nothing was taught. Ya’ll have a great week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless!
