Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush was at the Velma Jeter Manor apartment complex in Orange on Thursday for the ribbon cutting to celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated apartment complex.
All 80 units had suffered damage on the first floors due to Harvey.
Velma Jeter Manor apartments received $950,000 in repairs to rehabilitate the units and to bring 80 displaced residents back to Orange. This included flooring, sheetrock, fixtures and electrical.
The Multifamily Housing Pilot Program for storm repair, a partnership program between the Land Office and the Governor’s Office, funded the renovation costs.
The complex is located outside a flood zone.
