Lake Charles tropical update: Fri 5.25.18

The low pressure area just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is slowly getting better organized, as showers and thunderstorms have increased through the overnight hours. The National Hurricane Center gives this system a high 90% chance of developing into a subtropical or tropical depression or storm by Saturday.
Aircraft recon is scheduled to fly into this system this afternoon.
Landfall projections still show the risk being from southeast Louisiana to the Florida panhandle.
With our region forecast to stay on the west side of this system, expect a drying pattern to set up by Sunday going into next week, as well as above normal high temperatures.
