Man arrested for Failure to Register/Notify as a Sex Offender

PRESS RELEASE — On Friday, May 18th, 2018, at approximately 5 AM, Louisiana Sex Offender Damien Arnez Prater was arrested at an address on McKinley Street by the Lake Charles Police department Sex Offender Unit for Failure to Register/Notify as a Sex Offender.

Through an investigation it was learned that Damien Prater moved from Cottonport, Louisiana to Lake Charles and failed to notify the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s office and the Lake Charles Police Department.

A warrant was presented to Judge Sharon Wilson, who reviewed the warrant and issued a bond of $10,000. Avoyelles Parish also issued a warrant, signed by 12th District Court Judge William Bennet, who issued a bond of $10,000 on the Avoyelles Parish arrest warrant.

Damien Arnez Prater was convicted in 2011 for carnal knowledge of a juvenile, with Prater’s victim being a 16 year old female. Damien Prater is a Louisiana Tier 1 Sex Offender requiring him to register with law enforcement for 15 years. Damien Arnez Prater is currently incarcerated at Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.
