Shootout on the Sabine offers a weekend of free family fun

The 5th annual “Shootout on the Sabine” Drag Boat Races will take place at the City of Orange Boat Ramp from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 There is no charge to attend this family friendly event, and a children’s activity area will also be on site.
Up to 60 racers from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi will be participating, racing their boats up to 100 mph.
Concessions will be on site.
Entertainment, beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, will be provided by Jamie Talbert and the Band of Demons. The band is known for living up to their namesake song, Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” which influenced their lyrics, according to their official website. In 2017, they released their single, Wildfire, from their sophomore album, DO IT, which was produced by Stormy Cooper and Lyndon Hughes.
No pets or coolers will be allowed at this event.
