NEWTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT REPORT 5.14.18

Published 1:13 pm Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Hope everyone had a good week: wasn’t too bad around here.

Our K-9 officer and Bella went to Burkeville and Deweyville School’s looking for drugs. Great news, no drugs at the schools. Fun to watch Bella work, plus I get to interact with the kids.

Received a 911 call about a kayaker hung up on a stump in the Sabine river. Kayaker said he was “give out” and had no more energy to try and get off the stump. We called out Deweyville Fire and Rescue, they went and got him off the stump. Again, Deweyville Fire are my heroes.

Received a 911 call where a man was working on his pickup and the truck fell off the ramps. The man was pronounced dead by Judge Dana Ashmore. Please remember the Oscar Almendarez family in your prayers.

Got a 911 call about a man dancing at the four-way. He must have been dancing to

the beat of his own music. Officer brought him to jail. Got another call about a man

doing push ups along the roadway. He came to jail.

Gotta Go: Thought for the week: Improve your memory, do unforgettable things.

Ya’ll have a great week if we can help. Just holler, God Bless.
