Little Cypress-Mauriceville freshman Jack Burke will look to have a superb outing and wrap up what has been an amazing first year playing varsity golf for the Bears as he will participate in the Class 4A Boys Golf State Tournament Monday and Tuesday at Apple Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay in Marble Falls.
Burke will tee off Monday at 8:55 a.m. in the first round.
Burke, the District 22-4A champion, qualified for the State Tournament by placing second at the 4A Region III Tournament at Ravens Nest in Huntsville late last month.
Burke fired a 76 and 74 to take second-place as defending Class 4A state champion Sam Bennett of Madisonville took first-place at regionals after firing 71s on each day.
Burke has had an amazing journey this season, including winning seven tournaments while placing second in two others.
