The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears are moving on to the Class 4A Region III Area Round of the baseball playoffs this week after cruising to big bidistrict playoff wins last week.

The Bears (30-5), 22-4A runnerups, will take on 23-3A champion Huffman (17-8-1) in a best-of-three series area round clash.

Game One will be Friday at 6 p.m. at Don Gibbens Field at LC-M High School. Game Two will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Crosby High School with Game Three to follow if necessary.

The Bears crushed the Diboll Lumberjacks 11-1 and 9-2 to easily zip to the area round. Meanwhile, Huffman made quick work of Houston Yates 17-0.

The winner of the LC-M-Huffman series will take on either Lufkin Hudson or Liberty in the regional quarterfinals.

Lufkin Hudson escaped with two 1-0 victories over the Orangefield Bobcats last week while Liberty dismantled Houston North Forest 13-0.
