Matthew 14:29 “And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.”

Blessings! In the above scripture the disciples are on a boat when, shortly before dawn, Jesus comes walking to them on the water. Immediately, they are frightened and cry out in fear, “It is a ghost!” Undoubtedly, none of them had seen a ghost before, but they also had never seen anyone walking on water. This is a sidebar moment: Don’t make haste to attack the things that you’ve never seen or the things that you don’t understand, weigh them to determine if they are good or bad. We may be on the brink of something grand that has never been done before. Don’t assume it is bad before it is weighed.

Let’s get back to our minor adjustments. As long as Peter was watching Jesus he was walking on water. I think there is a great Kingdom principle being revealed here: we mirror what we watch. During their years of walking with Jesus the disciples were being trained and Jesus often allowed them to opportunity to demonstrate what they had learned, whether it was healing the sick or exercising authority over evil spirits. Through watching Him they became little versions of Him. What a great person to watch and become!

Oh that we would watch Jesus like the disciples watched Him! If we would study Him we would love like Him. If we study Him we will have the peace He has. It we study Him we will have the joy He has, and the joy of the Lord is our strength. This week my prayer is that we will allow God room in our hearts and that we will set our eyes upon Him. The minute Peter stopped watching Jesus he started sinking. Adjust who you are watching. Keep your eyes on God. Do whatever you are going to do for an audience of ONE. Don’t focus on the winds or the challenges that face becoming a greater version of yourself. Don’t be distracted by the waves or turbulence that arise when you want to step outside of the norm for greater! Rise as Peter did, keep your eyes on Jesus, let confidence and courage arise within, and step out of the boat to do what you see Him do! Blessings!
