The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce held a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday for the new construction of the Market Basket in Mauriceville. Since Harvey they have been working out a partially opened store and plan to be in the new, 45-percent larger facility by January 2019. Like most of Mauriceville, they received 32-inches of water in their store and have been working hard ever since to supply the people of Mauriceville with their grocery needs. They are located at 11916 TX-62 and the new location will be directly behind the current. In the new 32,000 sq. ft. facility, there will be a smokehouse, floral department and bakery/deli according to owner Skyler Thompson. Store Manager, Al Ortolon and his staff are still available to serve the people of Mauriceville in the partially opened store until the new store is complete.
