Dean Crooks was officially sworn in as Interim County Judge on Wednesday afternoon.

Crooks cannot start until Commissioners Court approves his bond during the Tuesday, May 1, meeting. His official start date is slated for Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

The court approved Crooks as Interim after closed sessions on Tuesday due to the recent resignation of Stephen Brint Carlton.

Crooks said he is looking forward to Wednesday.

“I can’t fix anything until I start,” Crooks said. “I am looking forward to Wednesday and getting started.”

Crooks also thanked those who attended the ceremony in the Commissioners Court.

“I want to also thank Mayor Runnels,” Crooks said. “He has been a big help and an inspiration, I wouldn’t be here today without him.”

Crooks also added the county employees and retirees could rest easy.

“Promises made will be kept,” Crooks said. “We just filter the information. We will be open, honest and transparent. We all live here and are one community. We will be prudent with your money.”
