LCPD arrest man in connection with hit and run

PRESS RELEASE —

On 4/24/18 at approximately 8:13am The Lake Charles Police department was contacted and advised that a subject was driving a vehicle on the walking track at Prien Lake Park located at 3700 W. Prien Lake Road. A short time later witnesses observed the vehicle leave the roadway and crash the 2000 Lincoln Town Car into a nearby ditch in the 3000 block of Henderson Bayou. After running into the ditch the subject then fled on foot into the wooded area nearby. The witnesses gave Lake Charles Police officers and Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputies a description of the subject who fled on foot.

Lake Charles police traffic officers handled the vehicle crash while other officers from Lake Charles Police and Calcasieu Parish sheriff deputies checked the area for the subject who fled on foot.

About two hours after the initial call Sheriff’s deputies located the subject in the 4200 block of Locke Lane. The subject was identified as Cory Humphries of Kinder, LA. Humphries was placed under arrest by Sheriff’s deputies on narcotics related charges and outstanding warrants. Humphries was brought to a local hospital to be checked due to his speech patterns.

Lake Charles police will be filling charges of Careless Operation, Hit and Run and Driving under Suspension against Mr. Humphries.

Cpl. Shaun Touchet with Lake Charles Police Traffic Division is the lead investigator in the incident with the assistance of Ofc. Rodney Grantham also of LCPD Traffic Division.
