Eligha Guillory, Jr. to speak at Guys in Ties event

The Orange Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. upcoming Guys in Ties Gala is quickly approaching.   The theme for this event is “Educating and Empowering Future Leaders”. The chapter will spotlight five young men in our community, all of whom are presently graduating seniors from Orange and Beaumont.  These young men have exhibited outstanding character, community service, and academic status in their respective high schools and participated in three mentoring sessions with outstanding community leaders.  The mentoring session topics included Manly Manners which was led by Mr. Benny Smith; Dress to Impress which was led by Mr. Larry Spears, Jr.; and Scared Straight which will be led by Rev. Fred Holyfield. All mentoring sessions have been well received by our participants. Our participants are as follows: Branden Dunbar is the son of Pernell and Yolanda Dunbar and attends LCM High School ; Tajh Mason is the son of Ms. Simona Mason and attends Ozen High School in Beaumont; Jarron Morris is the son of Maurice and Jennifer Morris and attends West Orange-Stark High School; Davien Teate is the son of Donny and Dana Teate, Jr. and attends West Orange-Stark High School; and TyShon Watkins is the son of Christal Julian and attends West Orange-Stark High School.

Eligha Guillory, Jr. will be guest speak at the event.

Guillory, Jr., a native of Orange, Texas, is a local small business owner and nonprofit executive. A resident of Lake Charles for the past twenty-five years, he is owner of Signature Notary Services, managing director of the Eljay Foundation for Parkinson Syndrome Awareness, Inc. and VP-Branch Manager of Pedestal Bank in Lake Charles.

Guillory grew up in Orange and graduated from West Orange Stark High school with honors. He was an active member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Calvin C. Jones, serving as Youth Group President, choir member, and Sunday School Secretary.

Guillory graduated from McNeese State University with a BS degree in Management and Marketing. He is active in the community and church serving as 2017-2018 Board Chair of the CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital Foundation, President of the DownTown Lake Charles Crawfish Festival, member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Lake Charles, board member of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Inc., and board member of Sisters Surviving Cancer, Inc. He is also a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.

He is married to his best friend and partner in purpose Nomica Guillory, and they have three children, Matthew, Martina, and Isabella, and a four-legged pal named Ellis.

He is also excited, as well as grateful, to let it be known that he was honored in his senior year in high school as one of the honorees selected by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. first ever Beautillion Banquet 25 years ago, and now honored by the same group to return to speak on its annual program.

The Gala will be 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church Christian Life Center located at 106 West Park Ave. in Orange. The public is invited to attend this event.  Ticket prices are $25 and are available from any member of the Orange Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
