Lady Bobcats stroll past Lady Mustangs

ORANGEFIELD — Getting ready to try to make a strong push in the playoffs, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats stormed past the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 15-0 in four innings in District 22-4A action at Lady Bobcat Field Friday evening.

The Lady Bobcats (20-8, 4-4) picked up their 20th win of the season in the process in coach Rebekah Ragsdale second year at the helm.

Orangefield picked up 10 hits against WO-S (0-8 in district) pitching and also took advantage o five walks, three hit by pitches and six Lady Mustang errors to cruise to the win.

Lady Bobcat freshman Codie Sorge nabbed the win on the hill as she worked four innings, allowing two hits while striking out eight.

The Lady Bobcats snared three runs in the bottom of the first. Kaylee Ancelot drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Autumn Frost made it 3-0 with a two-run double to left.

Orangefield added a pair of runs in the bottom of the second frame. Emma Humplik eventually scored on an error after a sharp ball hit by Kristin Broussard and Ryden Stanfield plated Broussard with a RBI double to right.

The Lady Bobcats struck for six runs off six hits in the bottom of the third.

Rost had a leadoff double to right to get it started and she scored off a Olivia Grant RBI single up the middle.

Humplik made it a 9-0 contest when she took a Mariah Mims offering and sent it over the leftfield fence for a three-run home run blast.

After Broussard reached on an infield single, Karlye Bramblett brought her home with a deep RBI triple to centerfield and Bramblett eventually scored on an error to make it 11-0.

The Lady Bobcats tacked on four more runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Broussard had a fielders choice RBI and Stanfield brought in another run with a RBI single to right. The Lady Bobcats scored their other two runs on wild pitches.

The two teams will battle again Tuesday when the Lady Bobcats visit the Lady Mustangs.
