SILSBEE — It took a little extra time but the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears escaped Silsbee Thursday night with a 4-1 District 22-4A softball win in nine innings over the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Bears (21-3, 6-2), who snagged at least the second-place playoff berth out of 22-4A with the win, led the Lady Tigers (4-4 in district) 1-0 heading into the seventh inning but Silsbee got a reprieve by hitting a home run to force extra innings.

The Lady Bears responded with three runs in the top half of the ninth to hold off the Lady Tigers.

Brianna Frenzel went the full nine innings for the Lady Bears and allowed just a mere three hits while striking out 10 and walking two.

The Lady Bears picked up six hits in the win against solid Silsbee pitching.

Lady Bear freshman Bailey Frenzel was 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Maddie Murdock was 1-for-3 and scored. Megan Peveto was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Brianna Frenzel went 1-for-5 and scored a run. Jonee Villanueava had a double while Ally White had a hit and Renna Toomey scored a run.

The two teams will battle again Tuesday when the Lady Bears host the Lady Tigers.
