Traffic Advisory: Multiple Lane Closures on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County

UPDATE:

At this time, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reconstruction team has completed both crash reconstructions on Interstate 10 in Jefferson county ahead of schedule.

The multiple lane closures on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County were originally scheduled to last until 2:30p.m.; however, the DPS crash reconstruction team worked diligently, with the assistance of TXDOT, to complete the work ahead of schedule to reduce traffic delays for the public.

Both crash reconstructions have been completed and there are no further traffic delays expected on Interstate 10 due to these projects.

BEAUMONT, TEXAS – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will conduct two separate crash reconstructions causing multiple lane closures on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County, Texas beginning at 9:30 a.m. on April 12, 2018. The Texas Department of Transportation will assist DPS with all traffic control devices and equipment.

First Crash Reconstruction: One westbound traffic lane of Interstate 10 on the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge (Neches River) will close from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 10 from the Louisiana and Orange areas are urged to use the following detour: SH 87 South in Orange to Highway 73 in Bridge City back to IH-10 in Winnie.

Second Crash Reconstruction: One westbound traffic lane of Interstate 10, near the FM 365 exit, will close from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 10 from the Beaumont and Louisiana areas are urged to use US 90 (College Street) in Beaumont to Houston. Motorist traveling in the area of the crash reconstructions should drive cautiously, observe all warning signs and follow directions from law enforcement officers and other traffic control devices in the area.

In the event of inclement weather, the crash reconstructions will be delayed.
