In the Master’s service The spring before I started school at Dallas Theological Seminary I decided to get organized to do Greek exegesis in the New Testament.  So I created this verse by verse grammar chart that went through the whole New Testament and placed the page numbers within which that verse would be discussed.  At the time, there were no PCs, so I asked Jerry and Sue holder at Holder Brothers Printing to mock up a chart for me.  Then I rolled up my sleeves and went to work.

I don’t know now how I met her, but a lady named Marie McDowell agreed to type in the page numbers for me.  Many days in the week I went to her red brick house on North First Street near the Civic Center and worked on the project.  It took, as I recall, a few months, and she didn’t ask me to pay her much to complete the task.  We worked diligently and long hours to get me ready to get this done, and I was reminded recently of how much of a servant’s heart she had as she did this for me, but she wasn’t doing it just for me, because she was a servant in the Master’s service.
