ORANGEFIELD — For the second time in the week, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears were able to snag a shutout victory over Orangefield in District 22-4A softball play, downing the Lady Bobcats 3-0 at Lady Bobcat Field Friday night.

Lady Bear ace Brianna Frenzel, just like on Tuesday, was able to toss another complete-game shutout as she scattered five hits while striking out four and walking one as LC-M improved to 20-3 overall and 5-2 in 22-4A play to stay in second-place.

Senior ace Kaylee Ancelot absorbed the loss for the Lady Bobcats (19-8-1, 3-4) as she tossed four innings, allowing four hits and four walks.

Freshman Codie Sorge threw the final three frames for Orangefield, allowing three hits while striking out two and walking one.

The Lady Bears were able to scoot across a couple runs in the top half of the forth inning.

Madison Murdock reached on an error at third to start things off. Olivia Leavings then reached on a bunt after a misfire to second enabled both runners to be safe.

Renna Toomey, who made a few spectacular plays at shortstop for the Lady Bears throughout the game, moved the runners over on a groundout.

That set up Ally White, who plated Murdock with a deep sacrifice fly to centerfield. After Brianna Frenzel drew a walk and baserunners moved over a base on a passed ball, Bailey Frenzel was able to score courtesy runner Alicia Merritt with a single between short and third.

The other Lady Bear run came in the bottom of the sixth when Leavings took a Sorge offering and planted it over the leftfield fence as it barely went fair for a solo home run bomb.

The Lady Bears left the bases loaded in the top of the first with Brianna Frenzel getting a hit in the sequence but Ancelot was able to work her way out of the jam.

Ryden Stanfield ripped a one-out double down the leftfield line in the bottom of the first and eventually wound up at third before Frenzel got out of the frame.

Brianna Frenzel had a leadoff single to right and Bailey Frenzel drew a walk to start the top of the third for LC-M but the Lady Bobcats survived it by getting a crucial double play.

Karlye Bramblett had a infield single for the Lady Bobcats in the bottom of the third that moved Kristin Broussard, who had walked, to second but FSrenzel got Stanfield to fly out to end the threat.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kristin Broussard belted a two-out triple to deep centerfield but was left stranded when Toomey made a great play of a hard hit ball by Bramblett and zipped it over to first for the third out.

Ancelot smacked what looked to almost be a one-out home run to deep leftfield but the wind kept it in the park as the ball hit the top of the wall and she had to settle for long double.

Both teams are off on Tuesday due to STARR testing and will hit the field again next Friday when LC-M visits Silsbee and Orangefield welcomes in WO-S.
