Six Bobcat hoopsters make Academic All-State Team

The Orangefield Bobcats basketball team got it done both on the court and in the classroom.

The Bobcats, who made the Class 4A hoop playoffs last season, placed six seniors on the Texas High School Basketball Coaches Association Class 4A Academic All-State Team.

Players on the team have to be a varsity letterman and have a grade-point average of 92 and above.

The six Bobcats include Alex Catt, Ryan Deutsch, Zach Dischler, Aven Lathrop, Jacob Rainey, and Drew Worthy.

In Class 3A Kirbyville’s Eduardo Hernandez, Milam McMilan and Zeke Olavarrieta were on the unit along with Kountze’s Jeremiah Barker and Jordan Boer, East Chambers’ Kaevon Harmon and Newton’s Corbin Foster.

In Class 5A, Beaumont Ozen’s Tajh Mason and Darrius Rubin made the elite list.
