Edwards makes Orange home, gives to community

A heart of gold. She defines humility and a kind heart. She will go the extra mile to make sure your needs are met and will support you in your endeavors. Her name is Benitris Edwards.

Benetris Edwards was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and has been a resident of Orange for the past couple of years.

She is married to Marvin Edwards and has one daughter Takeulia Petterway. She also has two grandchildren, eight step children and two foster children.

Edwards gives a lot of her time to help her community and her services go without notice.

She is a part of the Worshipful Master of Gate City Lodge #31 in Orange, she is an active member of Prince Hall affiliated of Texas, she is a member of PHA Order of Eastern Star Naomi Chapter 26 in Port Arthur, she is a member of Heroines of Jericho#133 in Orange, she is a member of the Ladies of the Circle of Perfection Makita Court #4, and Gate City Guild #42 as well as several other groups.

“My husband and I love to work in our community,” Edwards told me last Friday. “We love people.”

With these organizations she and her husband have donated toys, care packages and fed families in Orange. She holds her annual Back 2 School giveaway every year to help with school supplies for children going to school in the fall. The next event will be held August 8, 2018 at the Lion’s Den Park in Orange.
