Cardinals shut down Mustangs in 6-0 win

WEST ORANGE — Getting a combined shutout from pitchers Peyton Havard and Jacob Goodman, the Bridge City Cardinals blanked the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 6-0 in District 22-4A action at Ronnie Anderson Field Tuesday night.
The win pushes the Cardinals to 15-7-1 overall and more importantly 4-1 in 22-4A play.
The Cardinals are now tied atop the 22-4A standings with LC-M and Orangefield. LC-M defeated Orangefield 16-10 Tuesday.
Case Skinner drove in half of the Cardinals’ runs with a three-RBI outing. Luc Hollier and Jackson Tims had a RBI apiece for the Cardinals.
Gavin Green had a pair of hits for Bridge City while Logan Hamm had one.
Chad Dallas had a pair of hits to pace the WO-S (10-12, 1-4) offense.
Goodman struck out four Mustang batters while Havard had two strikeouts.
Justin Veitch pitched 4 2/3 innings for the Mustangs and had a strikeout.
The two teams will battle again Friday when the Cardinals welcome the Mustangs to Cardinal Field.
