Newton County Sheriff’s report 4.2.18

To The Leader

Hope everyone had a great Easter. We had a great sunrise service. For the third year in a row the donkey across the highway started braying at sunrise- let’s see what’s been going on.

The Sabine River is roaring again. Lots of water across county roads and in a few houses. My heart goes out to all affected. Remember when water is across the road

“TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN”. Hope the water is down by the time you read this.

We received a call about shots being fired up toward Burkeville. Turns out an uncle had a prostitute at his house, she started flirting with another woman’s husband and

baseball bat and gun came out. No injuries and nobody wanted charges filed.

Wife and ex-husband had a bad argument outside the Sheriff’s office here in Newton.

Ex-husband broke the car door off it’s hinges. Wife’s dad showed up, not good. Deputy Hopson and Patrolman Lilly got it settled.

Gotta Go. Thought for the week. They say marriages are made in heaven but so is lightning and thunder. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
