LC-M teams roll to 22-4A golf titles, Burke takes top medalist

Both the Little Cypress-Mauriceville boys and girls golf teams pulled away to win the District 22-4A Golf Championship team titles and LC-M freshman standout Jack Burke captured top medalist in the boys field at Sunset Grove Country Club Tuesday.
Burke fired a 77 on Monday and strung together another 77 on Tuesday to pull away for the individual title.
The Bear boys fired a two-day team score of 684, 333 on day one and 351 on day two to beat second-place Hamshire-Fannett (358-375-733) by 49 strokes.
Orangefield’s Logan Risinger will advance to the Region III Tournament as well after firing a 160 (81-79).
The Lady Bears won the team title with a 987 (498-489) and Silsbee was second with a 1,016 (513-503).
Silsbee’s Makenzie Sears was top medalist with a 196 (988-98) and LC-M’s Jessica McLain was second medalist with a 208 (109-99).
Behind Burke for the Bear boys were Jack Tindel (77-89-166), Mason Sterling (87-90-177), Blade Broussard (92-95-187) and Landon Bearden (107-122-229).
Behind Risinger for the Bobcat boys were Blake Love (108-95-203), Chase Broussard (108-100-208) and Kyle Pickard (105-112-217).
Blaze Montagne led Bridge City with a 180 (84-96) followed by teammates Randy Abate (97-102-199), Bryce Miller (117-119-236), Josh Fuselier (120-121-241) and Matthew Murdock (137-141-278).
For West Orange-Stark Fred Rash had a 265 (144-121) and William Reynolds had a 305 (155-150).
Behind McLain for the Lady Bears were Marlee Bird (108-123-231), Kaylee White (140-131-271), Rayven Fuss (141-136-277) and Gracie Greer (153-152-305).
Cadence Underwood paced Bridge City with a 223 (109-114) followed by teammates Shelbi Whitaker (125-131-256) and Hannah Kincannon (149-146-295).
Peyton Beebe paced the Orangefield girls with a 233 (113-120) followed by teammates Alexis Sturrock (127-143-270), Jayme Deutsch (143-135-278) and Gracie Donnaud (145-136-281).
The Class 4A Region III Golf Tournament for the boys will be held Apr. 23-24 at Raven Nest Golf Course in Huntsville and the girls will compete at Raven Nest Apr. 25-26.
