Cardinals rope Silsbee in 22-4A opener

SILSBEE —‘ Scoring three runs in the first inning, the Bridge City Cardinals never looked back as they defeated the Silsbee Tigers 8-1 in the District 22-4A opener for both teams at Tiger Field Tuesday night.
Peyton Havard had a strong performance on the hill for the Cardinals (12-7) as he struck out 12 in 6 2/3 innings of work.
The Cardinals, who scored four runs for insurance in the top of the sixth inning, finished with 10 hits while the Tigers could only muster two.
Justyn Romero, Luc Hollier and Jackson Tims each had two hits.
Schuyler Thibodaux had two RBI for the Cardinals while Hollier and Romero each had one.
The two teams will battle again Friday night when the Tigers visit Bridge City.
