Bobcats put the hurt on Longhorns, 16-3

FANNETT — The Orangefield Bobcats easily did away with Hamshire-Fannett 16-3 on Tuesday night in the District 22-4A opener for both teams.
The Bobcats got things started in the first inning. Mason Gonzales‘s sac fly scored one run for Bobcats.
Orangefield put up eight runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from doubles by Gonzales, Blake Bradley, and Kadeon Evans, a single by Johnny Armstrong, by Ryan Deutsch, and an error on a ball put in play by Kent Michael.
Bradley was the winning pitcher for Bobcats. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out three. Evans and Gunner Jones entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Carson Wright started the game for Hamshire-Fannett. He surrendered 16 runs on 11 hits over two and a third innings, striking out two and walking one. Reece King threw two and two-thirds innings in relief. Orangefield scattered 14 hits in the game. Brett Fregia, Armstrong, Evans, Jones, and Deutsch all managed multiple hits for Bobcats. Deutsch, Jones, Evans, Armstrong, and Fregia each collected two hits to lead Bobcats.
Matt Conkle led Hamshire-Fannett with two hits in two at bats.
The Bobcats move to 12-2-1 (1-0), and will host the Longhorns on Friday.
