Orangefield’s Taylor nabs silver at State Power Meet

WACO — Orangefield’s Madison Taylor captured the silver second-place medal at the

Class 4A Girls State Powerlifting Meet Saturday in Waco.

Taylor nabbed second in the 123-pound weight class as she squatted 330 pounds, benched 160 pounds and dead-lifted 330 pounds for a total of 820 pounds.

Lady Bobcat teammate Linsey Tackett was 15th in the 105-pound class with a total of 590 pounds lifted.

Bridge City’s Lacey Pinder was 14th in the 148-pound division with a total of 755 pounds and Lady Cardinal Sadie Stone nabbed 16th in the 114-pound class with 585 total pounds.

Silsbee’s Scout Bebee was 12th in the 123-pound class with 695 pounds and teammate Denisha Dodd netted 14th in the 259-pound class with 930 pounds.

Hardin-Jefferson’s Kebrianna Malone was 10th in the 198-pound division with 880 pounds and Lady Hawk teammate Hannah McCullough was 11th in the 259-pound class with 980 pounds.

In Class 5A Nederland’s Hope Brekel earned the bronze medal by lifting 660 pounds in the 105-pound division.

Vidor’s Hayley Kinard was a solid fourth in the 123-pound division with 800 pounds. Lady Pirate Jenna Hoffman netted sixth in the 132-pound division with 840 pounds and teammate Mallory Beck was 10th with 810 pounds.

Deweyville sent two lifters to the Class 2A Division as Kelsey Hyatt netted 10th in the 97-pound class with 290 pounds and teammate Shelby Crumpler was 11th in the 2209-pound division with 660 pounds.

Buna had a pair of medalists in the Class 3A Division as Marie Coon won the 220-pound class with a whopping 1,200 pounds and teammate Keisha Walker was second in the 148-pound class with 880 pounds.
