Ella Eva Cormier, 88, died peacefully on March 17, 2018 after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ella over-came her restrictions of arthritis in her hands, and was proficient in sewing and ceramics. She was an optimist at heart always looking at the best in everyone.

Ella was born February 10, 1930 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada to Laura and Archille Paradis.

Her journey to Texas began when she married her husband Jessie, in 1948 in Van Buren, Maine. They settled in Orange, Texas and had three children.

She was employed at the Orange Leader the local newspaper, for 17 years, mostly in the advertising department. When Ella retired, she and her husband moved to a small community South of Hemphill, Texas.

When diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Ella relocated to Baytown, Texas, in the care of her family.

Ella is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Jessie J. Cormier and son Reid J. Cormier, her parents Archille and Laura Paradis, brothers Reid Paradis, Levite Par-adis, Lionel Paradis, and Van Paradis, her sisters Stella Candy and Patricia LeLeaux.

Ella is survived by her sister and brother in law, Betty and John Hansell of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter, Deborah Jones of Pine Forrest, Texas, her son and daughter in law Larry and Ellen Cormier of Baytown, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matt, Jennifer, Phillip, Michael, James, Harvey III, Robert, and Steven, and many great grandchildren.

To the family and friends that visited Ella and lifted her spirits, words cannot describe our appreciation of your efforts to ease the pain of these final days.

We must offer a special thanks to “A Place for Mom” for finding “ADL Assisted Living” and for the dedicated love and care given by all ADL personnel to Ella making her final weeks with us as peaceful as possible. A sincere thank you is also offered to “Aspire Health” and “Harbor Hospice” for their participation in her final days.

A memorial service is being planned for family and friends on a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the “Alzheimer’s Association.”
