WEST ORANGE – The West Orange-Stark Mustangs shut out the Cleveland Indians 7-0 at Ronnie Anderson Field on Wednesday, behind Chad Dallas’ 16 strikeouts on the day.

Dallas got the start for the Mustangs and went the distance for them. Dallas went 7 innings with 16 strikeouts, no walks, and one hit given up, on 95 pitches.

Dallas wasn’t the sole reason the Mustangs pulled out the win in this game, but he sure did pitch a great game to help them win.

It was a quiet first three innings for both teams, but in the bottom of the fourth the Mustangs popped open the game, with what would end up being the deciding runs. Kaleb Ramsey, Jacob Dominguez and Blake Robinson all got hits to open the game and enabled the Mustangs to go up 3-0.

In the next inning the Mustangs put up three more off of Indian errors and walks given up. Dominguez would knock in two with a hard hit that the second baseman just couldn’t corral. The Mustangs took a demanding 6-0 lead in the fifth inning.

The Mustangs would score one more in the sixth inning to seal the game off of a Da’quarius Gipson hit to drive in Blake Robinson from third.

The Mustangs took the first game of a double header with Cleveland on Wednesday, in preparation for district, which is about to kick off.
