Bobcats hammer out wins in Silsbee tourney

SILSBEE — The Orangefield Bobcats snagged a pair of nice wins at the Silsbee Tournament Thursday, downing Evadale 9-3 and Buna 13-5.
Against Evadale Gunner Jones led the Bobcats to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He lasted four innings, allowing four hits and one run while walking one. Johnny Armstrong threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
The Bobcats tallied eight hits in the game. Blake Bradley and Kent Michael both managed multiple hits for Bobcats, with 3 each. Mason Gonzales hit a homerun for the Bobcats.
Against Buna, even though Bobcats gave up three runs in the second inning, they still defeated the Cougars with big bats.
The Bobcats fired up the offense in the first inning. Brett Fregia hit a solo homer.
Orangefield took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Gunner Jones hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored and Ryan Deutsch doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Bobcats notched four runs in the fourth inning. Orangefield’s offense in the inning was led by Kent Michael, Blake Bradley, Kaden Dubose, and Johnny Armstrong, all driving in runs in the frame.
Mason Gonzales was the winning pitcher for Bobcats. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out one. Kadeon Evans threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Orangefgield piled up 11 hits in the win. Gonzales, Armstrong, Bradley, and Fregia all managed multiple hits for Bobcats. Fregia, Bradley, Armstrong, and Gonzales each managed two hits to lead Bobcats.
The Bobcats move to 8-1-1 on the season and will take on Lumberton tomorrow at 10:00 am Friday in the Silsbee Tournament.
