BRIDGE CITY — Making it look easy, the Bridge City Cardinals dominated the Buna Cougars 10-0 in a five-inning, 10 run-rule non-district tilt at Cardinal Field Tuesday night.

The long ball was a big component of the game for the Cardinals, accounting for five of the 10 runs scored, thanks to Justyn Romero and Logan Hamm.

Caleb Dubois led the Cardinals, going 3-for-3 with a walk in the game, and Cameron Yadon locked in the win for the Cardinals with the start on the mound, going two innings with just 17 pitches and two strikeouts.

The Cardinals jumped on the board quickly, thanks to a single from Justyn Romero to knock in Caleb Dubois from third base. That’s all they would get, but they secured a quick 1-0 lead after one inning.

The Cougars run into trouble in the second inning, with four walks in the inning and an error, which resulted in three runs from the Cardinals in the frame. Bryce Trusty, for the Cougars, had trouble getting out of the inning, throwing 37 pitches to get three outs, and the Cardinals went through the entire lineup in the inning as the Cardinals captured a 4-0 cushion.

Schuyler Thibodaux drove in his third RBI of the night in Dubois to extend the lead to five in the bottom of the third inning. The next batter Logan Hamm, launched one to left field to bring in two more runs in the inning. The Cardinals extended their lead into a very comfortable 7-0 advantage after four innings played.

The Cardinals would 10-run rule the Cougars in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a Romero three-run bomb to left field, bringing in Dubois and Hamm from first and second base.

The Cardinals had control of the game from the get go and never let go, thanks to their solid pitching from four different arms throughout the game.

The Cardinals (8-3) will compete in the Jasper Tournament Thursday through Friday.
