Lady Mustang softball tourney underway

WEST ORANGE — The West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs are hosting the Lady Mustang Softball Tournament that goes from today through Saturday.
On Thursday, the Lady Mustangs dropped a tough opening game 11-1 to the Warren Lady Warriors in five innings.
The Lady Warriors picked up 11 hits in the victory while limiting WO-S to three.
Lady Mustang pitcher Mariah Mims went all five innings for WO-S and finished with three strikeouts.
The Lady Mustangs scored their run in the bottom of the first inning. Kayla Smith was hit by a Hailey Craigen pitch to lead things off. Smith swiped second and with two outs, scored after a Sidnee Lewis grounder to short was mishandled.
Lady Mustangs Caranaysha Angelle and Di’lynn Robinson each singled in the second inning but were left stranded. Jadyn Steverson had an infield single in the fourth frame.
Craigen went the distance on the hill for Warren and had five strikeouts.
Lady Warrior Grace Cynard was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Melody Sanford was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Hallie Nevins was 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Games Friday at the tourney includes Ozen vs. Central (8 a.m.), Ozen vs. Warren (9:30 a.m.), West Hardin vs. Hardin (11 a.m.), Warren vs. Nederland (12:30 p.m.), East Chambers vs. West Hardin (2 p.m.), WO-S vs. East Chambers (3:30 p.m.), Deweyville vs, Hardin (5 p.m. and WO-S vs. Nederland (6:30 p.m.)
Today’s games at Lady Mustang Field includes Central vs. Deweyville (8 a.m.), Nederland vs. West Hardin (9:30 a.m.), Warren vs. Deweyville (11 a.m.), Hardin vs. Central (12:30 p.m.), East Chambers vs. Nederland (2 p.m.), WO-S vs. Ozen (3:30 p.m.), East Chambers vs. Ozen (5 p.m.) and WO-S vs. Hardin (6:30 p.m.)
