BC grad Bergeron on a early season tear for UIW

Bridge City graduate Kyle Bergeron is having a stellar start to his sophomore season at the University of Incarnate Word.

Last weekend, Bergeron had a solo home run in the eighth inning that sealed the Cardinals 3-2 win over the St. Louis Billikens.

On Wednesday against nationally ranked No. 8 Texas A&M in a 9-7 loss, Bergeron finished a triple away from the cycle, batting 3-for-4 with four RBIs, 2 runs, a stolen base and a grand slam.

Thus far through the season, Bergeron is hitting at a team-leading .406 clip. He leads the Cardinals in hits (13), doubles (3) home runs (2) and RBI (11).

Bergeron started 45 of the Cardinals 46 games as a freshman last year in which he hit .244 with 42 hits, eight doubles and three home runs. As a catcher last season, he had 218 putouts and 57 assists and was named to the SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA.
