It’s official! former Bridge City standout and Texas-Arlington junior Alexus Henry is the women’s Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships pentathlon champion with a UTA-record 3,895 points, more than 200 points better than her old school mark and over 150 clear of second place!

Earlier this month Henry smashed her own school record in the indoor high jump and moved to No. 2 in the NCAA this season to highlight day one of action at Texas A&M’s Charlie Thomas Invitational.

Henry cleared 6-1 ¼ (1.86m) while competing in the event during the pentathlon. She surpassed her old record (5-11 ½) set in 2016 by nearly two inches. She is the first UTA female to top the 6-foot mark indoor or outdoor.

The top 16 individuals after the regular season and conference meets are completed will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships March 9-10 in College Station. Last year’s cut-off height was 6-0 ½.

Henry is the 2014 and 2015 Orange Leader Female Athlete of the Year after starring in basketball, volleyball and track for the Lady Cardinals.
