The LC-M Lady Bear Softball team was hosting its own tournament Thursday as players battled muddy conditions but got plenty of nice work in as the district season is amazingly just right around the corner.

In some action Thursday, the Lady Bears downed Deweyville 12-0 as Renna Toomey got the win on the mound, working four innings and fanning six.

Lady Bear freshman Bailey Frenzel knocked in six runs, including a three-run homer. Jaycee Perry scored two runs while Toomey and Alicia Merritt each drove in runs.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats dropped a 3-0 decision to Silsbee but Lady Bobcat freshman Codie Sorge showed plenty of promise as she will look to help out Kaylee Ancelot on the hill this season.

Varsity games Saturday include LC-M vs. Silsbee (12:40 p.m.), Vidor vs. Kelly (1:50 p.m.), Deweyville vs. Orangefield (3 p.m.), West Brook vs. Deweyville (4:10 p.m.), Silsbee vs. Vidor (5:20 p.m.), Orangefield vs. Kelly (6:30 p.m.) and LC-M vs. West Brook (7:40 p.m.).
