Mustangs Ivory, Teate make 4A All-State unit

West Orange-Stark defensive lineman Paul Ivory and linebacker Davien Teate both landed on the Class 4A Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writer Association All –State Football Team that was just released.

Ivory and Teate were such key cogs in helping the Mustangs reach the Class 4A Division II State Championship Game for the fourth straight season.

Ivory was named First Team All-State while Teate made the Third Team.

Ivory, who recently signed to play football at Davidson College, had 85 tackles, 17 for losses. He caused two fumbles, recovered two fumbles, deflected two passes, had nine quarterback pressures and four and a half sacks.

Teate, who is a Defensive Finalist in the upcoming Willie Ray Smith Awards, led the Mustangs with 151 tackles, 14 of them for losses.

Other Southeast Texas 4A players that made it include Silsbee’s Kalon Barnes (2nd Team kick returner), Johnathan Hageon (offensive tackle, honorable mention) and Eric Martin (kicker, honorable mention); Hamshire-Fannett’s Tyrese White (running back, honorable mention) and Liberty’s J.J. Slack (utility, honorable mention).
