West Orange-Stark has a new baseball coach but it will be a familiar face when they take the field this season.
Long-time assistant coach Ryan Pickering will take over the Mustang baseball program as the season nears.
Craig Jones, who was named the new baseball coach for the Mustangs last summer, was named the new head football coach at Kirbyville High School Monday night. Jones will immediately go to work at Kirbyville to get the football program off and running.
Jones led Pleasant Grove High School baseball to four State Championship appearances and state titles in 2010 and 2012.
Jones was an assistant last year at Kirbyville in both baseball and football and was the defensive coordinator in football at Pleasant Grove eight years. He also was a coach at Kirbyville in the early to mid 1990s.
Pickering will be guiding the Mustangs in scrimmages this week before they open their 2018 campaign next Monday at home against Jasper.
