Lady Cardinals stroll past Hudson

WOODVILLE – Going on an explosive run in the second quarter, the  Bridge City Lady Cardinals took down Lufkin Hudson 60-45 in Class 4A Region III bidistrict action at Woodville High School Monday night.

The Lady Cardinals trailed Hudson 12-9 at the end of the first quarter but then went on a second-quarter blitz, going on a 19-5 run to grab a nice 28-17 lead at intermission.

The Lady Cardinals, the third-place team out of District 22-4A, then went on to outscores the 21-4A runnerups 18-11 in the third to go up 46-28.

Rylee Ocerguera, usually known for her outstanding defense, led the Lady Cardinals offensively, scoring 15 points and burying two three-point bombs.

Madison Fischer chimed in with 14 points, eight coming in the first half. Kassidy Wilbur tallied eight of her 12 points in the second half while Maysen Tyler added seven points.

The Lady Cardinals will face Houston Wheatley or Liberty in the area round later this week.
