Woman suffers injuries in wreck

A woman had to be extracated after a truck that failed to stop at a red light hit her. According to Orange Police Lt. J. Bagget, Orange Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a two car major wreck around 2 p.m. Friday at the 3200 block of 16th Street in Orange.
Officers found a female victim trapped in her Mercedes Jeep. Evidence on the scene shows that a Ford pick up truck was traveling south bound on 16th Street and ran a red light, striking the Mercedes.
The Jeep was traveling east bound on the south service road when the truck hit her.
Fire fighters on scene had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the woman from the vehicle, and Acadian Ambulance Service assessed her on scene.
Due to the injuries from the crash, the woman had to be life flighted to St. Elizabeth Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the truck was given a citation for failure to stop at a red light.
The case remains under investigation by the Orange Police Department.
