Silsbee runs away from Bears

SILSBEE — The first-place and defending Class 4A state champion Silsbee Tigers ran past the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 100-63 in District 22-4A play at the Tiger Den Tuesday night.

The Tigers (21-8, 8-0) pulled away from the Bears (20-12, 6-2) each quarter as they led 30-19 at the end of the first period, 58-36 at intermission and 76-51 heading to the fourth.

The Silsbee win offset a superb performance from LC-M big man Katon Brown, who had a huge double-double, scoring 31 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.

Chritian Weatherly scored 12 points for the Bears while Braden Bridges had 10.

Jordyn Adams led the Tigers with 30 points while Braylon Bush had 18 and Devon McCain 16.

The Bears, who are now in a second-place tie with West Orange-Stark, will visit last-place Hamshire-Fannett Friday while the Tigers will remain home to welcome WO-S.
