Silsbee girls hoops has to forfeit 5 games

The District 22-4A Executive Committee has ruled that the Silsbee girls basketball team must forfeit five games after the Silsbee ISD released a statement on Wednesday acknowledging an ineligible player participated in five district basketball games earlier this season.

The Lady Tigers were in first-place with a spotless 8-0 22-4A record.

They now drop to 3-5 and are currently in fourth-place and can still make the playoffs.

The current standings are now 1. Orangefield (7-1), 2. Little Cypress-Mauriceville (6-2), 3. Bridge City (4-4), 4. Silsbee (3-5), 5. (tie), WO-S (2-6) and Hamshire-Fannett (2-6).

22-4A games remaining on the schedule includes Friday’s game that will have LC-M at Orangefield, that now has district championship implications; WO-S at Bridge City; and Silsbee vs. H-F. Games next Tuesday includes Silsbee at LC-M; Orangefield at WO-S and Bridge City at H-F.
