Mustang hoop team will have to forfeit all four 22-4A wins

The West Orange-Stark boys basketball program will have to forfeit four District 22-4A after the use of a ineligible player.

The Mustangs were 4-2 in District 22-4A play but will go to 0-6. WO-S is set to host Bridge City Friday as four 22-4A games remain.

The 22-4A standings now stand at: 1. Silsbee 6-0; 2. LC-M 5-1; 3. Bridge City 3-3; 4. Orangefield 2-4; 5. Hamshire-Fannett 2-4; 6. WO-S 0-6.

Statement from Rickie Harris, WOCCISD Superintendent:

The West Orange – Stark High School boys basketball team will forfeit four district games.

West Orange – Cove discovered an ineligible player had participated in games. The error was discovered yesterday and self-reported the same day (Jan. 31, 2018). The UIL Executive Committee voted today to administer the forfeiture.

WOCCISD is preparing to appeal the decision to the State UIL Executive Committee.
