PRESS RELEASE-

At 4:56pm Lake Charles Police were called to 2020 Elms St. (Elmwood Apartment complex) in reference to a burned body in the court yard of the complex. Officers found a female burned and deceased. A gasoline can was located near the body.
At this time investigators are working to locate potential witnesses and determine if the fire was accidental. The identity of the female has been made however the name will not be released until investigators are sure the next of kin has been notified. It has been learned that the female was a resident at the complex.
Detectives Dustin Gaudet and Jeffery Atkinson are investigating.
