PRESS RELEASE – According to City Administrator John Cardone, all non-essential City of Lake Charles administrative offices and services, including City Hall, will be closed during regular business hours on Wednesday, January 17 beginning at 6 a.m. and lasting until 12 p.m. The closure is due to icy road conditions. All city services and offices will open at 12 p.m. except for trash and garbage pickup and Transit service.

“Safety of our employees and residents is of utmost concern,” stated Mayor Nic Hunter. “At this time, we don’t want to risk their well-being, and so we’re suspending services until we feel it is safe for them to travel on roadways.”

Trash and garbage pickup will not run on Wednesday, January 17, due to the fact that area landfill operations are closed. Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on Thursday, January 18. Thursdaypickups will occur on Friday, and Friday pickups will occur on Saturday this week only.

Residents are urged to take caution while driving due to the possibility of ice that is not visible. All public safety employees and public works crews will be continuously monitoring street conditions.
