Man dies, woman hospitalized from injuries from one vehicle wreck

At approximately 5 a.m., the Texas Department of a Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near exit 860 in Orange County.
Preliminary reports indicate that a Pontiac passenger vehicle was traveling westbound in the outside traffic lane of Interstate 10. For an unknown reason, the driver struck the outside guardrail causing the vehicle to go airborne. The vehicle continued down the roadway and struck a second guardrail before coming to rest.
The driver, Jeremy Michael Martinez, 37, of Nederland, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Joy Simonton.
The passenger, 42-year-old Carla Culver of Beaumont, remains hospitalized at St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries
All westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 have reopened following the fatal crash.
This is an ongoing investigation.
