FANNETT — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats toppled the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns 66-38 Tuesday night at Longhorn Gym to run their District 22-4A record to 2-0.

The Orangefield defense was the front and center story in this game, holding the Lady Horns to just 11 points in the first half, being the big reason they won.

The Lady Bobcats jumped to an early lead of 17-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Orangefield’s defense was the main issue for Hamshire-Fannett. The Bobcats were able to force bad shots and passes to create points for themselves.

Faith Fregia led the Bobcats in points in the quarter with 12 points. The Bobcats looked to continue the pressure heading into the second quarter and it paid off again.

Orangefield only gave up six points in the second quarter with much of the same story, the defense continuing its pressure and their offense steadily building their lead. Fregia continued to lead the team in points with 14 and Cameron Choate has six of her own in the first half Robyn Sewell for the Lady Horns, was their main scorer with five points through the first half as the Lady Bobcats cruised into intermission with a 31-11 edge.

The Lady Bobcats show no sign of slowing down as the pressure from their defense showed as they went up by 26 at the end of three periods of play at 50-24. Fregia lead the team still with 18 points and Choate had 13 of her own entering the fourth. The Lady Horns were looking at a miracle to pull themselves back into the game, but it never came to fruition.

Orangefield sealed the deal in the fourth quarter and secure the win. The defensive side for the Bobcats let the offense shoot at will. Faith Fregia fouled out in the fourth, but still lead the team with 20 points and added three steals. Choate finished with a big double-double as she filtered in 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

Point guard Emmi Lummus chimed in with 11 points, five steals and four assists while Taylor Decker contributed four rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Lady Bobcats will continue district play on Friday night with a big 22-4A showdown at home against the Silsbee Lady Tigers.

H-F dropped to 0-2 in 22-4A play and will visit West Orange-Stark Friday.
