Lady Cardinals bombard Liberty, 53-30

BRIDGE CITY — Finding the hot hand early and never looking back, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals bombarded the Liberty Lady panthers 53-30 in non-district action at Cardinal Gym Tuesday morning.

Finding their early stroke from the outside, the Lady Cardinals zipped out to a commanding 19-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter and increased it to 31-16 at intermission.

The Lady Cardinals then slammed the door with a 14-4 spurt in the third period to increase the lead 45-20 entering the final quarter.

The Lady Cardinals received 14 points from point guard Maysen Tyler, who buried four of the Lady Cardinals eight three-point shots.

Tyler hit two three-point shots in the first quarter as six different Lady Cardinals scored in the period.

The Lady Cardinals found success with their inside game as well as Madison Fischer and Macie Murty teamed up for 16 points and 20 rebounds.

Fischer finished with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds. She scored seven points and grabbed six boards in the first half. Murty finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Cardinals controlled the boards, outrebounding Liberty 41-31.

Tyler led the 14-4 spurt in the third quarter by burying two more three-point bombs.

Haley Simons had a solid outing for the Lady Panthers as she finished with a game-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Olivia Moore had eight points for Liberty while Harley Davo hauled in 10 rebounds and Robin Lemelle added six boards.

Kyndall Harrison had eight points for the Lady Cardinals and canned two three-point shots while Anaiah Hicks had six points and Rylee Oceguera added five.

Liberty finished with 16 turnovers while the Lady Cardinals had 13.

Bridge City was 7-of-8 from the free-throw line while Liberty was 4-of-8.

The Lady Cardinals will crank up District 22-4A play Friday night at home when they take on the Orangefield Lady Bobcats at Cardinal Gym.
