With the holiday season upon us, there will be many celebrations and many people driving on the roads.

December is National Impaired Driving Prevention month to help bring awareness to the issue of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. NHTSA states, during 2016 in the United States, every 50 minutes someone died from an alcohol-impaired crash.

By the time, a person went to the theater and enjoyed a movie, two lives were lost in a vehicle accident involving alcohol.

According to the County Health Rankings, Orange County’s alcohol impaired driving deaths is at 22 percent over a 5 year span and the state’s is 30 percent.

With the promotion of education over alcohol and drugs and the promotion of healthier behaviors, we can help save lives.

To find out more information over alcohol and other drugs call your Region 5 Prevention Resource Center at 1-844-772-3483. Happy holidays Orange County. Let’s keep impaired driving awareness going into the new year!
