One man sent to hospital in logging truck wreck

Two logging trucks traveling on State Hwy. 87 in Orange were involved in a wreck, sending one driver to the hospital for treatment.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a two vehicle crash Tuesday morning involving two commercial vehicles on State Hwy. 87 In Orange County, according to a press release from DPS.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 8 a.m., a 1992 Western Star was stopped facing south on State Hwy. 87 waiting to turn left onto Owens Illinois Road when it was struck from behind by a 1990 Freightliner that was slowing to turn into the same location as the Western Star truck.

James Downs, 49, from Deridder, Louisiana was identified as the driver of the Western and was not reportedly as being injured.

The driver of the Freightliner is identified as Timothy Stuckey, 56, from Pitkin, Louisiana.

Stuckey was transported from the scene of the crash to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation.
