Bobcats fall short to Jasper in third-place battle

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats dropped a 53-46 decision to the Jasper Bulldogs in the third-place game of the Tennison Tournament Saturday.

Jasper led 31-28 at the half and stretched it to 45-36 at the end of the third and were able to hld back the Bobcats.

Alex Catt led the Bobcats with 15 points. Dylan Williams filtered in 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Zach Dischler added seven boards.

Guard Leontay Sells powered the Jasper unit with 20 points. He scored 16 points in the first half as he buried four three-pointers. Tee Collins chimed in with a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Rikel Collins had nine points and nine boards and Jacorrian Limbrick had eight boards as the Bulldogs finished with a 42-28 rebounding edge.

Each sqyad finished with 10 turnovers apiece. Both struggled from the free-throw line as Orangefield went 7-of-16 and Jasper was a woeful 4-of-13.

The Bobcats dropped a tight 56-48 overtime decision to the Liberty Panthers Thursday in the semifinals.

The Bobcats had a 40-33 lead to start the fourth quarter but the Panthers rallied to tie it and went on to outscore the Bobcats 10-2 in the extra session.

Alex Catt had 13 points and five rebounds for the Bobcats. Aven Lathrop filtered in 11 points. Drew Worthy notched 10 points, four rebounds and two steals. Zach Dischler pulled down six rebounds while Dylan Williams had five.
