Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Programs starting in the new year

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Orange County is starting up their programs in the new year. They will all be located in the extension office at 11475 FM 1442, Orange, TX 77630.
These programs are:
- Free Do Well Be Well with Diabetes classes:
Join us in learning how to prevent and control your type 2 diabetes, eat healthy and much more to control your diabetes. The series will last for 5 weeks (on Thursdays) starting on January 4th and end on February 1st and will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. To get the full educational benefit, you need to attend all 5 classes if possible.
- Food, Fun, & Fitness 8 Week Challenge
Kick start Your Monday’s to a Healthier You! Fallon Foster, County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Health, will hold free classes for 8 weeks on Mondays, January 29th – March 26th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. You will have 30 minutes of exercising and 30 minutes of nutrition education.
- Certified Food Managers Two Day Course with Test
Every business that cooks and serves food need to have at least 1 Certified Food Manager on site at all times. The classes will be on Tuesday, January 30th and Wednesday, January 31st from 9:00 AM to 5:00 pm each day. The course costs $125 for the class and test. You must register by January 11th and you can print out the registration form at http://foodsafety.tamu.edu. (You do not need to call the Extension office to register for this class).
- Home and Body Essentials DIY Class
Come enjoy a fun day of hands-on homemade Home and Body products. This class will be on Saturday, February 3rd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This class will cost $25 to pay for the materials and products that you will get to take home with you. You must register and pay by January 26th. Class is limited to 25 participants so register now. If you wait till deadline date, the class may be filled.
- Food Handler’s Training class
This class is recommended for all food service employees to help promote the service of safe food. It will be held on February 6th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The cost is $20 per person paid by check or money order the day of the class made payable to FPM account 230202. No cash accepted.
